James Chanceの新作

今度はホントにレコード。7月のUNITでの来日公演も記憶に新しいジェームス・チャンスの新譜。ジャケットはダブフェイ高木デザインです。写真はUNITのステージでのもの。この来日には僕もUNITのディレクターとして今年一番力を入れてやっていたものなのでうれしいですね。画像はこの前開店休業中と書いてたらいきなり引っ越して更新されてた高木のブログより拝借。デザインもシャープでイイ！と思います。

音はかつてのNo Waveな感じというよりは、もっとラウンジ・リザーズ的なフェイク・ジャズといった趣き。これはこれで僕は好きですね。アンジェロ・バダラメンティが手がけるデビッド・リンチの映画のサントラっぽいとかも言われたりしてますが、たしかにそんな雰囲気もあり。Holly WoodではなくNew Yorkですが、ニューヨーク臭がぷんぷんです。かっこいい。ジャズをやってもやりきれてない感じがいかにもジェームスっぽいというか、なにをやってもニューウェイヴ感がばっちり出ちゃう。彼の歌とサックスの音自体がもうニューウェイヴのアイコンなんですね。
